  Wealthy Execs raise more than $9.3 billion; Stanford, Yale & Michigan State Alums Lead Sellers

During the fourth Quarter of 2015, some 4,300+ executives of US public companies sold an astounding $9.3 billion in stock, according to a recent Donor Watch report. The list of wealthy individuals includes many renowned philanthropists, such as Bill Gates, Reed Hastings and Sergey Brin, as well as many lesser known millionaires who are often more discreet about their wealth and their philanthropy efforts. Timing can be everything for non-profits seeking major gifts, so identifying prospects and alums who have recently come across large amounts of cash can be critical to a gift officer's targeting efforts.

The top 10 undergraduate schools with the most alumni on the list include Stanford University, Yale University, Michigan State University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard College, Brown University, University of California - Berkeley, University of Texas and the University of Florida.

Some of the more notable schools with over-representation on this quarter's top prospect list include the College of William and Mary, McGill University, University of Maryland and Fordham University.

Among the top executives on this quarter's list is the Chairman of Constellation Brands, Richard Sands, who raised more than $150 million in cash during the quarter. Mr. Chambers, who was the CEO

Another notable executive and philanthropist on this quarter's list is Kevin Plank, the CEO and founder of Under Armour. Mr. Plank raised nearly $90 million by selling large blocks of UA's stock over the quarter. Mr. Plank serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland College Park, where he received both his BA and MBA.
